Lost Feather

For me there is something fascinating and beautiful about finding a feather on a stoney shoreline.

Wild Rose?

These things are springing up all over the place, out in the wilds. They look like a wild rose of some kind but I haven't looked them up yet. Pretty little things.

Running Deer

We were out driving around and I caught this deer hightailing it towards the woods.  Kind of blurry 'cause the deer was running and we were driving.

AEP Camp Site

We went camping at the AEP Recreational Lands here in Ohio. They are PRIMITIVE camp sites. We were going to stay two nights but ended up coming home on the first night. As peaceful as this campsite looks, there were camp sites on both sides of us. Both were using chain saws most of the day and one had a generator going almost constantly. Sad to say, it was more quiet in suburbia.

Meadow Tree

Not much of a comment about this one. I was struggling for a photo and "settled" on this nice tree out in a meadow.

Civil War Wash Pan

There are Civil War Re-enactors in Sunbury for the next three days.  This is a photo of the wash pan that they use just outside a personal tent. I am not sure what's in the bottle.

The Perfect School

This is the restored Perfect School, located on Old 3C Highway North, close to Sunbury, Ohio.  The Perfect Family moved into the Trenton Township and were one of the first two pioneers to do so. His family migrated up from Kentucky and Virginia. This school was built in 1893.

Cookies!

Barbara made some oatmeal cookies.  There were suppose to be some Nestle's Mini-Chips in them but somehow those came up missing from the cupboard.  I am pretty sure I knew who ate them but I ain't telling.  Anyway, I have a cold and couldn't even smell the cookies, let alone taste them. Bummer.

Hopi Trilogy Entry

Today, I took a risk at failure and entered my Hopi Trilogy acrylic paintings into the Amateur Division at the Ohio State Fair. I won't know the juried results until June 7th or so.

Fishing on Galena Pier

The crappies were biting pretty good and lots of people lined the pier in Galena, hoping to fill their baskets.

Flower Bed

I've been feeling sickly all day long.  Too bad, because it was a gorgeous day outside.  I ventured out onto the front door stoop and snapped a few photos of some new flowers and plant life coming up. Went back inside and crashed on the sofa.

Galena Pier Lost Ball

Well, I went back to the Galena Pier today to re-shoot what I tried to shoot yesterday.  I can't say that I am completely satisfied but this was better than yesterday's attempts!  I think all of the limbs and twigs around and in front of the ball screws with the focus somewhat.

Anyway, this was an interesting place to find a lost ball and I am glad I went back for the photo.

Thirty-two photos taken today.. and this was the best I could come up with. I think this old man needs to invest in a tripod. LOL

Hummingbird In Flight

Finally, we had our first Hummingbird of the year!

This is a female Ruby-Throated Hummingbird. I can't wait for the males to show up. They are a lot more colorful and are why this bird is called "Ruby-Throated".

Green Rail

This is just the end of a green handrail at work.  I like rusty things, especially red rust, and the combination of the rust and the green rail appeals to my eye, along with the different textures found; the rusting bracket, the flaking green paint and the course cement blocks.

Two New Backyard Birds!

Wow.  I sure have been enjoying my backyard bird feeder this spring!
This evening I had 2 new visitors. The blue one is a male Indigo Bunting and the black, white and red bird is a male Rose-Breasted Grosbeak.
Beautiful, aren't they!?

5 Photos of My New Neighbor

Well, I had a new neighbor begin moving in today.  Of course, me being nosey I couldn't help but take a few photos of the move!  :-)

This little bird sure was busy.  She'd poke her head out, look around and then launch herself up to an overhead limb.  She'd then pick a leaf or a twig off of it and then dive right back into her new residence.  I tried to get a photo of her landing on the limb, but she was always obscured by a clump of green leaves.

I think her launch is pretty dang cool.  :-D

And Oh... I am not sure if this is a Common House Wren or not so if you know what she is, I'd appreciate the I.D.

Golden Brass Trunk

The sun came out for a bit today, just long enough for me to snap a few shots of this golden brass metal trunk that we use as an end table next to the living room chair.  I just found the various textures, patterns and shadows interesting.

Alum Creek Spring Rain

The rain was poring down today (surprise, surprise) and so I sat in my car at Alum Park to snap a few photos of Spring blossoms.  The rain really intensifies the colors, I think.

Fern Leaf

I stopped by a local nursery on my way home to pick up some bird seed, and when I was getting back into my car I spied this fern leaf which must have fallen off of someone's plant.  It struck me, that it's shape and where it landed, if one uses their imagination, looks a lot like a pine tree on the horizon of a snowy hillside.

So, I took the shot.

The Raffle Wait

I brought these home from last nights "PJ Benefit Fundraiser" in Sunbury. Eighteen raffle tickets laid out this morning, just waiting for a winning phone call.  A phone call that never came. I wonder who DID win the Back Hair Removal and Foot Massage gift certificate?

I just made that up. Wasn't any such prize. Should have been though. I might have bought an even twenty tickets.
