Winter Alum Pond

This a photo from the day after our late Winter snowfall.  Or was that an early Spring snowfall?  Less than 4 hours after this photo was taken, all that snow had melted away.  Now THAT's the kind of winter weather I like!

Winter at Alum

You know, even if it is technically Spring, Ol' Mother Nature says it's still Winter.  I really don't mind Winter ending like this at all.  I guess maybe because I know it's days are definitely numbered!
This is at the Alum Creek State Park Campground area.

REVD

I've been cleaning out the back room and found a very small stack of a magazine Barbara and I published back in 2008. It was called REVD - "Riders Enjoying Victory Daily". We ran out of money so had to halt the publication but the three copies that we did get to press and distributed are filled with personal testimonies from bikers all over the United States.  I have a few of each issue if anyone would want some.

It was a very sad day for me when I couldn't get Issue 4 printed and mailed.  The realization that the end of this small ministry was at hand had a dramatic impact on me.  I still grieve over it's demise.

Basking Buzzard

On my way over to Sunbury/Westerville this morning from work, I found this buzzard taking advantage of the sun's warming effect, even though the air was a bit cool.  Not sure how long he stayed like that. I took several photos from both directions on the road and he was still sitting there as I drove off!
Of course, I didn't have my CanonT1i with a zoom lens, just a small 4mp point and shoot so the cropped quality is terrible.

Brush Shelf

I spent most of Saturday straightening up my art studio.  I bought a new aluminum easel a couple years back to replace my old, homemade wooden easel.  This is the paint/canvas shelf.  It sure has seen quite a bit of sloppy paint smears over the past 25 years or so.

Brush Art

A Sponge Brush, a Bristle Brush, a Slow Shutter Speed, Duplication and Color Enhancements. I'd love to have a 40" x 60" piece hanging on my wall.  In case ya haven't noticed, I like bright colors.  :-)

Love's In The Air.. Still

Five weeks and Four days later, "Love" is still in the air!  These are the Valentine Day balloons Barbara gave to me at work back on Feb. 14th.  Sadly, 2 have dropped but these three still seem to be holding their own!  Amazing.

Be Cautious of Love

This just amused me to no end. "Caution Debbie... David loves you!"  You'd think David would have found a more romantic spot to write it.  This is on a covered bridge in Delaware, Ohio located on Chambers Road.  The graffiti "artists" have pretty much made it an ugly blight in the country landscape.

Wind Surfers

I watched them Wind Surfing out at Alum Creek State Park today.  Looked cold to me, but man those boys were skipping right along top of that water!

Muddy Waters

I revisited a dock at Alum Creek on my way home to find it not moored as before, but in place and ready for the boats.  That sure is some muddy water it's sitting in!

Doctor's Orders

I went to the doctor today to have my back looked at. He wrote me a prescription for some drugs and directions to eat lots of Salty Caramel Toffee ice cream dribbled with Hershey's Syrup.  I don't think Barbara's believing me.

Colorful Corrosion

As some of you know, I'm into rusty things to photograph.  So it was only natural to snap a photo of this old drum with an interesting placed shadow.

Blendon Woods

I tried getting out for a bit on Saturday to walk this kink out of my back. It didn't work, it just made things worse. I was able to snap this photo of the trail though as my photo of the day.

Native American Artifacts

I use to go out and walk the muddy plowed fields looking for Native American artifacts.  Here is a photo of some that I have found, with the exception of the Paint Pot which is on the felt bag. That was a gift.

Happy Camper

Two days of feeling miserable with a very sore back, this evening things are finally looking up! Looks like I will have to go into work tomorrow, but I don't think that'll bother me at all.  Yep, I am a happy camper.

Banana Nut Bread

While I slept away the evening with a sore back, Barbara was busy in the kitchen making this awesome Banana Nut Bread.  She brought two buttered and warm slices to my bedside to help cheer me up.  :-)

Numero Uno Utz!

One of my wife's co-workers gave her a 3 1/4 pound tub of simply the best pretzel that's ever been made; Utz!  If you've never tried them, you really should. Made in Hanover, PA I don't think they are distributed here in Ohio. You have to order them online.  I had tried them a few years back when I went to PA. Dang good pretzels!

Alum Creek Spillway

The flood gates were open at the Alum Creek Spillway today which gave it an even more tumultuous effect.

Sunday Night Treat

My Sunday night treat while watching the TV Series "The Event". Yep.. ate it all.  Hey.. it could have been worse.  I could have sat down with a quart of ice cream!

Train Bullet Hole

This is a window pane that is on a train car down at Hocking Valley Railroad.  Other than adjusting the exposure a bit, the photo is as is.  I really like the depth that the cast shadow gives this shot.  No pun intended.  :-)

Wooly Beef

Found this fella all decked out in his winter coat while driving a back road from Sunbury to Delaware today.  This is actually a breed called Highland that originated in Scotland. There was too much water and snow in the ditch to get any closer.  In my first photo of him all I could see was his eyes up, but then he raised his head for the camera and I was able to get more of him in.  I think he's pretty cool looking.

Red Neon Clock

This neon wall clock is over 7 years old (in human years, not clock years) and hasn't missed a beat or flickered once.  With the exception of a small pile of dried bugs and spiders that are somehow managing to collect where I can't reach them, it's still in awesome shape!  I love the soft red glow that it gives my den when all other lights are off.

Old 3C Hwy Lost Ball

Rained all day long today.  Had no idea what I was going to shoot but as I took an alternative route to Sunbury via Old 3C Hwy out of Westerville, I passed this lost ball.  I turned around to go get my photo of the day.  I can't help but wonder though; is this little fella giving one last look at his old home before heading out into wilds, or is trying to figure out how to get back?  I asked him what he was doing and he said nothing.

Sign of Spring

What a beautiful day today! Perfect for a lunchtime stroll through Inniswood Metro Park in Westerville.  Took LOTS of photos but settled on this pretty little flower as my Photo of the Day.  Along with the wonderful contrast of colors, I enjoy the difference between the stiff pine needles and the softness of the flower petals.

It's new life, "springing" up!

Neon Flower

This is a Double Exposure photograph. I first snapped the little purple flower (that usually sits in the kitchen window) against a dark felt background. After that image was taken, I quickly made a swooping movement with the camera along side my neon wall clock.  Makes for an interesting composition.

Still Flowers

All I can say is; "I'm glad I bought Barbara flowers for Valentines 'cause I would be at a loss as to what to take a photo of!"  Are you gettin' tired of them yet?  I am.  <sigh>

Big Walnut Creek

What looks like a mighty river is actually the Big Walnut CREEK.  It's done nothing but rain here for several days and that, along with the snow melt, requires for water to be released from the Hoover Reservoir.  This is looking downstream of the dam/spillway area.

A Peeling Photo

Rainy March days and yellow must go hand in hand.  Here is yet another burst, although somewhat more subdued, of color in an otherwise drab world.  I wondered which would be more slippery; The banana peel or the film layer of ice?  I wasn't going to find out.

Dock Bracket

I enjoy finding bright, warm colors in settings that contrast to them, such as this moored boat dock on a rainy March day.

Seventeen Days!

Okay.  I am taking this as a real good positive sign.  Here's the Valentine Flowers that I bought for Barbara.. 17 days ago!  Some have passed on but these are still looking pretty healthy. Well, except for that one droopy pink flower.

Shadow Play

I just thought these shadows were pretty cool.  Well, that and the fact that they played equally well on both the natural organic texture of the tree trunk and the man-made brick structure.
