Library Display of Gonder

The Library in Sunbury, Ohio offers three display cases for people to showcase things of interest and of educational value.  I have them reserved for the month of March to educate people about the Gonder Ceramic Arts Company that operated in Zanesville, Ohio between 1941 and 1957.  This is my first evening of the display. The photo is of the main room showcase.  The other 2 smaller display cases are in the back of the library.

I know this isn't an artsy or creative photograph, but it IS a moment of my life on Feb 28, 2011.

Pizza Run

We ordered pizza and Barbara asked me to go pick it up.  "Shoot Babe. Don't mind at all!"

So I thought I'd take a photo of the pizza before I pulled out of the lot.  I just love the benefit that comes with that little errand.  :-)

Road Trip

Woke up this morning pumped and ready to roll.  I left for a day of Antiquing and Photo Taking up in Bellville, Ohio. Well, I didn't find any antiques to speak of and I must have over looked any photo-ops. Over 130 miles later, the best I could come up with was all I had left for my efforts.  Sad, isn't it?

Perhaps tomorrow will a better day.

They're Alive!

Wow.  Molly's Flowers sells strong flowers!  Sounds like a tongue twister. LOL Barbara's Valentine Flowers are now 12 days old and still have nice color and a little bit of life left in them.  My guess is they'll be in Monday's trash bin though.

Lost Green Ball

As you may or may not know, I have a thing for "Lost Balls".  I found my first one over 7 years ago and didn't have a camera with me. Since then, I seem to find them quite regularly.  I often wonder, like I did today, what people driving by think when they see a longhaired guy squatting down in a ditch in the pouring rain, taking a photo of a ball.  I am sure a few heads have been scratched in wonder.

Preparation

Cold.  Grey. Sleet. Rain. And a squirrel getting it's nesting material.  My guess is, it's preparing for some April babies perhaps.  Had to crop in tight so quality isn't all that great.  That's okay.  I feel just like the day is.

Depot Baggage Cart

Barbara and I drove over to the Clifton Mill area and ended up walking around Yellow Springs.  Here's a close-up of an old green farm wagon that was over by the Train Depot. Now that I think of it, it's probably more like an old baggage wagon.

Early Evening Moon Shot

The B&O Train Depot in Mount Vernon, Ohio caught my eye today.  I love it's architecture and the choice of brick.

A Quartet in tuxedos singing 2 love songs in her office, a single red rose, a heart shaped cookie from Cheryl's Cookies, 2 Valentine cards and this vase of flowers.  She calls me a romantic.  :-)

A New Visitor!

This morning while we were eating breakfast, I noticed that we had a new visitor in our back yard!  I grabbed my camera and started clicking away.  He was a LOT more leery than any of the typical grey squirrels that are in our yard on a regular basis.  Not sure if he is truly albino as his eyes look pretty dark, but then again I didn't get very close to him.  

What a real treat for us!!

Valentine Surprise

I returned to the office today to a phone call that said I had someone up front  to see me.  So I went to the office lobby and found this awesome bouquet of Valentine balloons from my wife Barbara.  It's nice to be loved!  Thanks Babe!  :-*

Doodle Dips of Sunbury

Ah yes.. Spring is just around the corner and my all time favorite place for hard dipped ice cream is back open!  Here Joe Thurston of Doodle Dips in Sunbury gives me a hefty scoop of Hershey Chocolate Eclair ice cream. Mmmmmm!!

Fake Fern Shadows

Okay.  Last minute photo.  This is getting rough to do!  Here's a photo of a fake plant that is in our living room.  I've always enjoyed the shadows that this thing produces more so than the fake plant itself.  They have a real painterly look to them.

Venison Roast

Not much to say that the photo doesn't say better!  Scrumptious Venison Pot Roast!  The meat was very tender and as you can tell, I like a little of the juices with mine.  Barbara did good.  :-)

1890 Interurban Electric Train Tunnel

I made a trip today and hiked through Blackhand State Park to shoot the Ohio Electric Interurban train tunnel.  Sure wish the weather would have been better.  This might be cause for another trip this summer!

In October, 1890 an electric interurban was running from Newark to Granville. The line wasn't opened to Zanesville until 1903 due to difficulties cutting a pathway through the gorge.  An interurban tunnel 19.5 feet high and 327 feet long was blasted through solid rock to complete the job.

The interurban ran on the opposite side of the Licking River from the B&O Railroad.  The last Ohio Electric Interurban car ran through the gorge on February 15, 1929.

Winter Dusk

It's staying lighter longer so my drive home is becoming nicer to do.  Normally by the time I get to the Alum Spillway it is dark.  I love the golden hues in the grass and on the trees.  The sun was setting low and fast behind me  when I snapped this shot.

Foggy Winter Sunrise

You know, you can be driving down a country road and be the only car there for miles around.  That is, until you want to stop and take a few photos.  Then all of a sudden you got people riding your butt.  That happened this morning when I stopped to snap this photo.  I wanted to take my time, maybe reposition myself several times for more shots.  But ohhh noooo, not a chance for that!

Unwanted Visitor

The bird feeder was hopping this morning with a lot of very hungry birds.  I grabbed the camera to try and capture a blue jay when all of a sudden the bird feeder was completely vacated by every single bird.

I was looking around to see why, as I thought maybe a cat was strolling through the yard, when over the bird feeder flew this bad boy.  Guess this hawk decided to crash the party.

An Icy Perch

Ahhhh.  The first day of February brought us an ice storm.

These Starlings were ever present raiders on my bird feeder.  I gave up chasing them off and just let all of the birds battle for the seeds.

Well, my internet connection failed me last night so I am posting yesterday's photo today and will post today's photo later this afternoon or so.
